Clinical features and outcomes of young patients with epithelioid sarcoma: An analysis from the Children's Oncology Group and the European paediatric soft tissue Sarcoma Study Group prospective clinical trials
European Journal of Cancer May 02, 2019
Spunt SL, et al. - In this subset analysis, researchers focused on clinical characteristics, optimal therapy, and results of pediatric patients with epithelioid sarcoma (ES) from two international prospective clinical trials carried out between July 2005 and November 2015. According to the findings, the majority of low-risk ES patients who have undergone an adequate resection fare well without adjuvant therapy. In higher risk ES patients, poorer outcomes were predicted by large tumor size, high histologic grade, tumor invasiveness, inadequate tumor resection, and metastatic disease; more effective therapies are, thus, required for these patients.
