Clinical features and outcomes of pulmonary lymphoma: A single center experience of 180 cases
Lung Cancer May 21, 2019
Zhang MC, et al. - In order to gain a clear understanding regarding the clinical features, management, and prognostic factors of pulmonary lymphoma, researchers retrospectively reviewed patients treated for primary pulmonary lymphoma (PPL, n=63) and secondary pulmonary lymphoma (SPL, n=117). The most common pathological subtype of PPL and SPL was mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma (67%) and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (48%), respectively. SPL vs PPL was characterized by the presence of B symptoms, advanced disease stage, intermediate-high or high risks of international prognostic index (IPI) and NCCN-IPI(national comprehensive cancer network-IPI), elevated inflammatory parameters, and elevated cytokine levels. In PPL and SPL, the most frequent radiological finding was consolidation and nodules, respectively. In indolent PPL, indolent SPL, aggressive PPL, and aggressive SPL, the estimated 3-year OS (overall survival) rates were 95%, 100%, 70% and 50%, respectively. In patients with aggressive SPL, β2-microglobulin was identified as the independent prognostic factor for OS.
