Clinical factors associated with mood affective disorders among adults with cerebral palsy
Neurology® Clinical Practice Dec 26, 2019
Whitney DG, Warschausky SA, Whibley D, et al. - By utilizing cross-sectional data from 2016 from a random 20% sample of the Medicare fee-for-service database, researchers investigated individual and aggregated links of cerebral palsy (CP)-associated symptoms as well as the influence of comorbid neurodevelopmental conditions on mood (affective) disorders in adults with CP. The presence of mood (affective) disorders was found in 4,823 of the 17,212 adults with CP. Findings revealed the link of mood (affective) disorders with pain, sleep disorders, and fatigue in young and middle-aged adults with CP. Further increment in the probability of mood (affective) disorders was caused by the increasing co-occurrence of these factors. Adults with CP showed a link between comorbid neurodevelopmental conditions and mood (affective) disorders.
