Clinical factors and outcomes of dialysis-dependent end-stage renal disease patients with Emergency Department septic shock
The Journal of Emergency Medicine Nov 05, 2017
Lowe KM, et al. - End-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients with acute septic shock were assessed for the clinical presentation and factors associated with outcome. Researchers observed that ESRD patients comprise a small but considerable portion of patients with Emergency Department septic shock. Despite similarity of presentation clinical profiles to patients without ESRD, ESRD status seemed to have independent association with lower fluid dose and compliance with the 30-mL/kg fluid goal. In ESRD septic shock, hyperlactatemia was a marker of mortality.
