Clinical experience with ceftazidime/avibactam for treatment of antibiotic-resistant organisms other than Klebsiella pneumoniae
International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents Feb 08, 2018
Santevecchi BA, et al. - Researchers perform a retrospective case series to evaluate patients treated with ceftazidime/avibactam for infections caused by multidrug-resistant gram-negative organisms outside of K. pneumoniae. Treatment with ceftazidime/avibactam results in clinical and microbiologic success rates for infections caused by antibiotic-resistant gram-negative organisms other than K. pneumoniae similar to those that are reported for K. pneumoniae. When limited alternatives exist, ceftazidime/avibactam appears to be a promising treatment option for infections caused by a variety of resistant gram-negative organisms.
