Besch G, et al. - In a study population of coronary artery bypass grafting surgery patients, researchers examined the clinical effectiveness of intravenous exenatide vs. insulin in perioperative blood glucose control. Findings demonstrated that in order to achieve adequate blood glucose control in these subjects, exenatide alone at the dose used was not enough but it attenuated overall consumption of insulin and increased the time to initiation of insulin.
