Clinical diagnosis and treatment outcomes for parapharyngeal space schwannomas: A single-institution review of 21 cases

Sato Y, et al. - An appraisal was carried out of the extirpation methods and postoperative neurological complications in parapharyngeal space (PPS) schwannomas. It was observed that postoperative neurological deficit of the involved nerve was unavoidable in PPS schwannoma. Yet, intracapsular enucleation possibly appeared to be beneficial by reducing its severity and the incidence of complications unassociated with the involved nerve.
