Clinical decision support increases diagnostic yield of computed tomography for suspected pulmonary embolism
The American Journal of Emergency Medicine Sep 13, 2017
Mills AM, et al. - In this study, experts sought to determine effects of evidence-based clinical decision support (CDS) on the use and yield of computed tomographic pulmonary angiography for suspected pulmonary embolism (CTPE) in Emergency Department (ED) patients. In the ED, implementing evidence-based CDS was correlated with an immediate, significant and sustained increase in CTPE yielded without a measurable decrease in CTPE utilization. To evaluate whether stronger interventions could further improve appropriate use of CTPE, further studies were required.
