Clinical characteristics of cytomegalovirus colitis: A 15-year experience from a tertiary reference center

Le PH, et al. - The objective with which this study was planned was to assess the predictors of mortality and the differences between immunocompetent and immunocompromised patients with Cytomegalovirus (CMV) colitis. Researchers observed that immunocompetent patients had significantly more frequent and fatal occurrence of CMV colitis than has generally been acknowledged. It seemed that being alert to different ways in which this disease can present itself would help in early diagnosis and significantly reduce mortality.
