Clinical characteristics and treatment outcomes for patients with external auditory canal cholesteatoma

Otology & Neurotology Feb 04, 2018

Morita S, et al. - The clinical features and treatment outcomes of individuals who had idiopathic and secondary external auditory canal cholesteatoma (EACC) were assessed in this trial. The authors also validated the treatment strategy from the perspective of hearing along with the etiology and staging. They found that based on the perspective of hearing as well as the extent of disease and etiology, the treatment modalities ought to be selected. Although the early lesions could be treated conservatively, complete surgical removal of EACC was requisited by the advanced lesions or cases refractory to conservative management.
