Clinical characteristics and survival in systemic sclerosis-mixed connective tissue disease and systemic sclerosis-overlap syndrome
Arthritis Care & Research Feb 19, 2020
Fairley JL, Hansen D, Proudman S, et al. - This study was intended to present the clinical characteristics and results of systemic sclerosis -mixed connective tissue disease (SSc-MCTD) and SSc-overlap. Researchers recruited a sum of 1,728 individuals from the Australian Scleroderma Cohort Study who met ACR/EULAR criteria for SSc. They conducted a univariate comparison of clinical features by ANOVA or chi-square. Survival analysis was done applying Kaplan-Meier (KM) curves and Cox regression. This research gives insights into the clinical characteristics of individuals with SSc-MCTD, SSc-overlap and SSc-only and reveals that anti-RNP antibodies are correlated with better survival when compared with anti-Scl-70 and anti-RNA polymerase III antibodies.
