Clinical characteristics and risk of second primary lung cancer after cervical cancer: A population-based study
PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases Aug 09, 2020
Qian C, Liu H, Feng Y, et al. - This large population-based cohort analysis was undertaken to determine the clinical features of second primary non-small cell lung cancer after cervical cancer (CC-NSCLC) vs first primary non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC1). For this purpose, the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results cancer registry between 1998 and 2010 was utilized. A higher rate of squamous cell carcinoma was reported in patients with CC-NSCLC vs NSCLC1. In patients with cervical cancer, independent risk factors for second primary lung cancer were age 50–79 years, black race, and history of radiotherapy. Distinctive clinical features and better prognosis were evident in patients with CC-NSCLC vs those with NSCLC1.
