Clinical characteristics and postoperative symptoms of 85 adolescents with endometriosis
Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology Aug 19, 2020
Song XC, Yu X, Luo M, et al. - Via this retrospective cohort study of 85 adolescents with surgically confirmed endometriosis, age younger than 19 years, researchers sought to report on the clinical characteristics and postoperative symptoms of adolescent endometriosis in their center. Between January 2008 and January 2018, 11,236 patients with endometriosis received surgical treatment at their department; of these, 85 were adolescents (85/11,236; 0.76%) and were assessed in this study. Adolescents with endometriosis had pelvic pain as the main symptom; surgery resulted in great improvement in this pain. Further, it should be noted that genital malformation might be a relevant factor in younger adolescents with endometriosis.
