Clinical biomarkers in otolaryngology—head and neck surgery: Autoimmune diseases
ENT Journal Jul 25, 2021
Samarrai R, et al. - Researchers sought to conduct a literature review and identify promising and clinically relevant biomarkers in autoimmune disease related to otolaryngology—head and neck surgery. Pubmed and Google Scholar were searched using keywords like "biomarkers" and "otolaryngology." To maximise the yield of relevant titles, additional queries were made with combined keywords such as "biomarkers" and a specific subspecialty such as "autoimmune" or "Meniere's." According to this review of the literature, several biomarkers for autoimmune diseases are currently in clinical use in the field of otolaryngology. The vast majority of these biomarkers are proteins like Cogan peptide and c-ANCA. This survey could be used to create a comprehensive resource on biomarkers for autoimmune diseases in clinical otolaryngology.
