Clinical and serological predictors of suicide in schizophrenia and major mood disorders
The Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease Mar 04, 2018
Dickerson F, et al. - Researchers here searched for clinical and serological predictors of suicide in schizophrenia and major mood disorders. In this work, researchers realized an association of suicide with male sex, divorced/separated status, Caucasian race, and elevated levels of antibodies to Cytomegalovirus (CMV). Findings suggested increasing hazard ratios for suicide in association with increasing levels of CMV antibodies. The identification of serological variables linked with suicide could provide more personalized methods for suicide prevention.
