Clinical and radiological outcomes of patients treated with the talon distalfix proximal femoral nail for intertrochanteric femur fractures
Injury Mar 12, 2020
Yapici F, et al. - The Talon DistalFix Proximal Femoral Nail (Talon-PFN), a new proximal femoral intramedullary nail, is designed for managing intertrochanteric femoral fractures. Researchers investigated the clinical and radiological outcomes of cases managed using a proximal femoral intramedullary nail with a novel design. In this retrospective study, participants were 110 patients (65 females, 45 males) with either stable or unstable (AO/OTA type 31-A1, 2, 3) intertrochanteric fractures who were managed with the Talon-PFN. Outcomes revealed the clinical and radiological outcomes using the Talon-PFN were comparable to other proximal femoral intramedullary nail designs. This suggests it to be a suitable alternative in the treatment of intertrochanteric fractures.
