Fornaro M, et al. - Researchers undertook post-hoc analysis to assess the prevalence and clinical correlates of treatment-emergent mania (TEM) among 91 bipolar disorder (BD) Type-II (BD-II) depressed outpatients exposed to antidepressants. In this study, 38.46% of the subjects experienced TEM. Cyclothymic temperament and mixed depression distinguished TEM+ between TEM- cases, although only lithium and the second-generation antipsychotics (SGA) reliably predicted TEM+/- grouping.
