Clinical and power‐Doppler ultrasound features related with persistence of fistulous tracts under treatment with adalimumab in hidradenitis suppurativa: 4 years of follow‐up
Dermatologic Therapy Feb 12, 2021
Caro RDC, Solivetti FM, Candi E, et al. - A retrospective analysis of power‐Doppler ultrasound (PD‐US) images with fistulas in patients with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) was conducted to determine the clinical and ultrasound features associated with both healing and persistence of fistulous tracts in patients under treatment with adalimumab. A total of 151 fistulous tracts from 33 HS patients were involved. An accurate diagnosis of fibrosis might be critical in order to better define when a surgical approach may be required, in addition to medical care. The decrease of vascularization in HS lesions and consequently the reduction of inflammation due to immunomodulatory therapies can be assessed by PD-US.
