Simonson DC, et al. - The experts embraced this study to compare the effect of Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) surgery with intensive medical diabetes and weight management (IMWM) on clinical and patient-reported outcomes in obese patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D). Greater weight loss, lower HbA1c, reduced cardiovascular risk, and improvements were noted in obesity-related quality of life among obese patients with type 2 diabetes after surgery, 3 years after randomization to RYGB vs IMWM.
