Clinical and pathological features of combined hepatocellular-cholangiocarcinoma compared with other liver cancers
Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Dec 20, 2018
Wakizaka K, et al. - Authors of this study assessed 28 patients with combined hepatocellular-cholangiocarcinoma (CHC), 1,050 with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and 100 with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC), and compared their clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis to evaluate the features of combined CHC vs other liver cancers. They observed similar clinical features between CHC and HCC including sex, hepatitis B virus infection, α-fetoprotein, and protein induced by vitamin K absence or antagonists-II levels, while prognosis and pathological features of CHC and ICC including vascular invasion and lymph node metastasis were found alike. Carcinoembryonic antigen levels and tumor size were recorded as independent prognostic factors in subjects with CHC.
