Clinical and non-clinical factors that predict discharge disposition after a fall
Injury Mar 02, 2018
James MK, et al. - Researchers here investigated clinical and non-clinical factors that could predict discharge disposition after a fall. Demographic, clinical, social, economic, and functional factors in combination could together predict discharge disposition after a fall. Increasing age, length of stay in the ICU, injury severity, number of comorbidities, having Medicare insurance, having a fracture at any body region, and ambulation status significantly increased the odds of being discharged to inpatient rehabilitation/skilled nursing facility compared to home. The majority of these factors could be assessed early in the hospital stay, which could facilitate a timely discharge plan and shorter stays in the hospital.
