Clinical and imaging predictors of recurrent ischemic stroke: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Cerebrovascular Diseases Jun 27, 2018
Kauw F, et al. - In patients with recent ischemic stroke, the researchers identified clinical and radiological factors for predicting recurrent ischemic stroke through a systematic review and meta-analysis. They performed a systematic search in PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and CINAHL with the terms “predictors/determinants,” “ischemic stroke,” and “recurrence.” The data presented in this work showed a history of stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA) and the subtype large artery atherosclerosis were linked with an increased risk of recurrent ischemic stroke in subjects with a recent ischemic stroke. Multiple ischemic changes and isolated cortical lesions were the predictors evaluated with MRI. No studies using CT or ultrasound for the prediction of recurrent ischemic stroke was found.
