Clinical and economic outcomes of interventions to reduce antipsychotic and benzodiazepine use within nursing homes: A systematic review
Drugs & Aging Feb 04, 2018
Hoyle DJ, et al. - This systematic review was performed to investigate the clinical and economic outcomes reported within interventions to reduce antipsychotic and/or benzodiazepine use in nursing homes. In order to reduce antipsychotic and/or benzodiazepine medications efforts were required for improving the consistency in reporting of clinical outcomes within interventions. Furthermore, the economic impact of these interventions ought to be considered. However, evidence suggested that interventions that reduce antipsychotic use were unlikely to have deleterious clinical effects. It was noted that the clinical and economic effects of benzodiazepine reduction were under-reported.
