Circulatory Omentin-1 levels but not genetic variants influence the pathophysiology of Type 2 diabetes
Cytokine Mar 29, 2019
Rathwa N, et al. - This study was performed on 250 controls and 250 Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) patients recruited from Gujarat, India, to examine the relationship of Omentin-1 polymorphisms (rs2274907 A/T and rs1333062 G/T), its transcript and protein levels, and genotype-phenotype correlation with metabolic parameters and T2D susceptibility. Researchers obtained venous blood from the participants and separated plasma and Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells (PBMCs) from venous blood. From PBMCs, they separated genomic DNA and used Polymerase Chain Reaction-Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) to perform genotyping of Omentin-1 variants. As per the findings, a risk towards T2D susceptibility could be conferred by decreased circulatory Omentin-1 levels.
