Circulating inflammation-related markers and advanced gastric premalignant lesions
Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology May 27, 2019
Song M, et al. - Researchers in Helicobacter pylori-infected people assessed associations of inflammation blood markers with gastric intestinal metaplasia and dysplasia. They compared pre-treatment serum levels of immune-related and inflammation-related markers between 99 people with intestinal metaplasia or dysplasia and 75 control people with non-atrophic gastritis within an H. pylori eradication trial in Mexico. The presence of advanced premalignant gastric lesions was nominally associated with five markers. The study findings suggested that some Th2 and other cytokines may play a role in promoting carcinogenesis in the setting of H. pylori infection.
