Circulating adipokines are associated with Kawasaki disease
Pediatric Rheumatology May 16, 2018
Zhang XY, et al. - Authors evaluated the association between adipokines including chemerin, omentin-1, adiponectin and acute Kawasaki disease. They used enzyme-linked immunosorbent (ELISA) to detect serum levels of chemerin, omentin-1, adiponectin, and inflammatory cytokines IL-1β and TNF-α in the cases of patients diagnosed with Kawasaki disease (KD). A significant increase of circulating chemerin was seen in the acute stage of Kawasaki disease, while omentin-1 and adiponectin levels were decreased. A close association of these adipokines with the early inflammation and lipid metabolism disorders of acute Kawasaki disease was seen.
