Chronic pulmonary aspergillosis commonly complicates treated pulmonary tuberculosis with residual cavitation
European Respiratory Journal Feb 05, 2019
Page ID, et al. - A sum of 398 Ugandans people with treated pulmonary tuberculosis were analyzed to assess the consequence of chronic pulmonary aspergillosis (CPA) on already treated pulmonary tuberculosis with residual cavitation. Candidates were estimated with clinical assessment, chest X-ray and Aspergillus-specific IgG measurement and resurveyed after 2 years. They observed the incidence of author-defined CPA in 4.9% resurvey cases. They noticed more incidents of CPA among subjects with chest X-ray cavitation as compared to HIV co-infected patients. A 100% negative predictive value for CPA was significantly found in cases with an absent cavity and pleural thickening on chest X-ray.
