Yakubek GA, et al. - Researchers assessed if COPD was related to adverse perioperative outcomes, and if COPD increased the risk of short-term complications after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). They noted that in comparison to the non-COPD patients, cases with COPD were more likely to experience postoperative complications after TKA. In this difficult to treat population, pulmonary evaluation and optimization were considered crucial for minimizing adverse events from occurring.
