Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is associated with short-term complications following total hip arthroplasty

Yakubek GA, et al. - Postoperative total hip arthroplasty (THA) outcomes of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients were assessed herein. COPD patients vs non-COPD patients had more chances of developing postoperative complications following THA. Many of these complications were medical and preoperative management in these patients must include pulmonary evaluation and medical optimization.
