Chronic kidney disease and the risk of incident gout among middle-aged men: A seven-year prospective observational study
Arthritis & Rheumatism Apr 08, 2018
Krishnan E - Author evaluated if a reduced glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and/or kidney damage was related to a higher incidence of gout. The subjects included in this study were of 35–57 years of age. Findings demonstrated that the risk of incident gout increased with chronic kidney disease manifesting as a reduced glomerular function or as the presence of blood or protein in the urine. The hazard ratio was not attenuated by including the serum urate level, as well as the urate-chronic kidney disease interaction term as variables in the secondary analysis.
