El Amrousy D, et al. - This is an observational case-control study, via which experts intend to assess the pulmonary function test (PFT) abnormalities, if any, in children with newly diagnosed chronic hepatitis B (CHB) infection over 3 years. They enrolled 100 children and adolescents with newly diagnosed CHB as the individual group that was further subdivided into 2 groups such as inactive carriers (group I) and people in the immunotolerant phase (group II). This study was finished by 90 individuals. As a control group, 50 healthy children of matched age, gender and height were served, only 45 of them completed the study. It was found that in children with CHB, subclinical PFT abnormalities were present more than expected. Therefore, in pediatric individuals with CHB, PFT monitoring was suggested.
