Chronic hepatitis B infection and the risk of gestational diabetes: A cross sectional study
BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Mar 20, 2020
Giles M, et al. - As people living with hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection comprise many women of reproductive age, researchers investigated women with chronic HBV residing in a non‐Asian country for the relative incidence of gestational diabetes. This cross sectional study of all singleton births between 2009 and 2017 was performed in the setting of Victoria, Australia. Findings support an association between HBV and gestational diabetes (GDM). The adjusted incidence risk ratio for GDM was 1.2 among women with HBV after adjusting for region of birth, BMI, parity, age and smoking. Women with HBV and a BMI of > 40 exhibited the highest incidence (37.1%) of GDM.
