Chronic endometritis in women with suspected retained products of conception and their reproductive outcomes
American Journal of Reproductive Immunology Mar 06, 2021
Elder S, Bortoletto P, Romanski PA, et al. - Researchers conducted a retrospective cohort study of 111 women who underwent operative hysteroscopy for suspected products of conception (rPOC) with the aim to determine if these women have histopathologic evidence of chronic endometritis (CE). Per findings, CE was incidentally diagnosed in nearly 1 in 4 women undergoing hysteroscopy for rPOC. Uncertainty remains concerning whether CE is a causative agent for retained products or a response to the pregnancy loss. A diagnosis of CE was identified to have no negative impact on subsequent reproductive outcomes in this cohort.
