Choroidal microvasculature dropout is not associated with myopia but is associated with glaucoma

Journal of Glaucoma Feb 08, 2018

Shin JW, et al. - This trial aimed to compare the frequency of choroidal microvasculature dropout (CMvD) in healthy myopic eyes and myopic open-angle glaucoma (OAG) eyes. Experts also intended to examine if myopia was independently associated with CMvD. Data revealed the presence of CMvD only in glaucomatous eyes. It correlated with the severity of glaucomatous damage in myopic OAG individuals. A prominent link was brought to light between the angular circumference of CMvD with glaucoma severity.
