Children screening positive for language delay at 2.5 years: Language disorder and developmental profiles
Neuropsychiatric Disease and Treatment Dec 05, 2018
Schachinger-Lorentzon U, et al. - In 100 children who screened positive in the 2.5-year language screening but not in the autism screening, researchers described in detail language and overall development. Parents have completed a newly developed questionnaire covering eight domains– Motor, Executive functions, Perception, Memory, Language, Learning, Social skills and Child’s behaviour – with impairment in each domain. Findings revealed that most children who were positive for language delay but negative for autism at 2.5 years of age were diagnosed with ICD-10 language disorder. Parents reported impairing problems in about one in four cases in other developmental areas.
