Childhood infectious diseases and risk of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma according to the WHO classification: a reanalysis of the Italian multicentre case-control study
International Journal of Cancer May 16, 2019
Parodi S, et al. – Researchers assessed if common childhood infectious diseases have any impact on the risk of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) and its major subtypes. The analysis included 1,193 cases diagnosed between 1990 and 1993 and 1,708 population-based controls. There was an inverse association between rubella, pertussis, and any infection with B cell lymphomas (n = 1,102). A negative trend according to number of infections was seen; it was more apparent in mature B cell lymphoma. A possible protective role of common childhood infections was seen in the etiology of B cell NHL.
