Chest pain center accreditation is associated with improved in-hospital outcomes of acute myocardial infarction patients in China: Findings from the CCC-ACS Project
Journal of the American Heart Association Oct 29, 2019
Fan F, Li Y, Zhang Y, et al. - Whether chest pain center (CPC) accreditation can result in improvement of the outcomes of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients in China, was investigated in this retrospective study based on a predesigned nationwide registry, CCC-ACS (Improving Care for Cardiovascular Disease in China-Acute Coronary Syndrome). Participants included 15,344 AMI patients, from 40 CPC-accredited hospitals, in whom, major adverse cardiovascular events, including all-cause mortality, reinfarction, stent thrombosis, stroke, and heart failure, were assessed as the primary outcome. Of the overall study sample, 7,544 were admitted prior to and 7,800 following accreditation. For AMI patients, better in-hospital outcomes were observed in relation to CPC accreditation, based on a large-scale national registry data set. However, over time attenuation in the benefits seemed to happen, and the possible importance of reaccreditation for maintaining AMI care quality and outcomes was suggested.
