Chemoradiation vs chemotherapy in uterine carcinosarcoma: Patterns of care and impact on overall survival
American Journal of Clinical Oncology Aug 01, 2018
Odei B, et al. - Researchers used the National Cancer Database to assess the impact of adjuvant chemoradiation (aCRT) vs adjuvant chemotherapy (aCT) on patterns-of-care and overall survival (OS) among uterine carcinosarcoma (UCS) patients. They used univariate and multivariate Cox regression analysis, as well as Kaplan-Meier and log-rank analysis, to determine the factors that predicted OS. They used propensity-score matching to decrease the potential impact of selection bias. They found the use of aCRT, vs aCT alone was related to a significant OS advantage in UCS patients. They also observed a significant impact of multiple demographic and clinical factors on the choice of adjuvant therapy in this setting.
