Characterization of urothelial cancer circulating tumor cells with a novel selection-free method
Urology Feb 26, 2018
Chalfin HJ, et al. - Using a novel selection-free method, the circulating tumor cells (CTCs) were enumerated by the experts as biomarkers of urothelial carcinoma (UC). They also characterized CTCs across a range of UC stages. Experts noted that at all UC stages, CTCs were detected and exhibited phenotypic diversity of cell size and EpCAM expression. In non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) and muscle invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) patients, EpCAM negative CTCs were detected, that could be missed with the CellSearch test.
