Characterization of alternative splicing events and prognostic signatures in breast cancer
BMC Cancer May 28, 2021
Han P, Zhu J, Feng G, et al. - This research sought to illustrate alternative splicing (AS) events and signatures that might serve as prognostic indicators for breast cancer (BRCA). Researchers collected original data for all seven types of splice events from the TCGA SpliceSeq database. They further downloaded RNA-seq and clinical data of BRCA cohorts from the TCGA database. Univariate COX proportional hazards regression model was used to examine survival-associated AS events in BRCA. A total of 45,421 AS events in 21,232 genes were distinguished. Results indicated survival-associated AS events and signatures that may help predict the survival outcomes of patients with BRCA. Furthermore, in BRCA, the constructed splicing factor-AS networks can reveal the underlying regulatory mechanisms in BRCA.
