Characteristics of persistent diaper dermatitis in children with food allergy
Pediatric Dermatology Dec 04, 2018
Celiksoy MH, et al. - In order to determine the association between persistent diaper dermatitis and food allergy, researchers carried out a retrospective chart review. Pediatric patients diagnosed with persistent diaper dermatitis between August 2015 and November 2017 were involved. The study sample consisted of 157 patients diagnosed with persistent diaper dermatitis (67 male, 72 female; median age: 13 months). Results of this study suggested that persistent diaper dermatitis longer than one month can be linked to food allergy. The diaper rash could also be the only sign of food allergy. Responsible food elimination can enable these patients to recover from persistent diaper dermatitis.
