Ek M, et al. - In this observational study, researchers determined the socioeconomic factors, lifestyle habits, and somatic and mental comorbidities in endometriosis vs general population. Endometriosis was noted in an inverse correlation with lifestyle habits and asthma and a positive correlation with Irritable Bowel Syndrome and impaired psychological well-being. TSH receptor antibodies titers are noted to be associated with endometriosis. This supports a correlation between endometriosis, autoimmunity and thyroid pathophysiology, although overt thyroid diseases do not associate.
