Characteristics of coronary artery atherosclerotic plaques in chronic kidney disease: Evaluation with coronary CT angiography
Clinical Radiology Jul 11, 2019
Deng W, et al. - In this retrospective analysis, researchers used coronary computed tomography angiography (CTA).to identify the features of coronary artery atherosclerotic plaques in chronic kidney disease (CKD). The study sample consisted of 66 patients with CKD who had coronary CTA. The left anterior descending artery followed by the left circumflex artery and right coronary artery were the most commonly diseased coronary vessels. In vascular calcification, dialysis was a risk factor. In CKD patients at coronary CTA, a heavy plaque burden was identified. The most common imaging feature was a non-obstructive calcified plaque. More obstructive mixed plaques were found in CKD patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
