Characteristics and prognosis in women and men with type 1 diabetes undergoing coronary angiography: A nationwide registry report
Diabetes Care Feb 24, 2018
Ritsinger V, et al. - This trial entailed the elucidation of sex aspects on the extent of coronary artery disease (CAD) and prognosis in a contemporary cohort presenting with type 1 diabetes. An almost similar extent of CAD was reported in women and men in patients with type 1 diabetes admitted for coronary angiography. No variation was found in the total long-term mortality. Findings revealed that type 1 diabetes was linked with higher mortality risk in women when compared to men. Hence, it was inferred that type 1 diabetes attenuated the cardiovascular risk difference observed among men and women in the general cohort.
