Characteristics and outcomes of reversed patients admitted to an Emergency Department for VKA-related intramuscular hematoma
The American Journal of Emergency Medicine Apr 04, 2018
Moustafa F, et al. - In a retrospective single-center study involving patients admitted to an emergency unit for vitamin K antagonist (VKA)-induced intramuscular hematoma, researchers assessed frequency, severity, and anticoagulation management based on whether International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) criteria were met or not. Observations revealed that half of the patients admitted with intramuscular hematoma could not be qualified as having ISTH-criteria major bleeding. A similar hospitalization duration and rate of re-bleeding were noted among these patients compared to those with ISTH-criteria major bleeding.
