Characteristics and long-term prognosis of patients with heart failure and mid-range ejection fraction compared with reduced and preserved ejection fraction: A systematic review and meta-analysis
ESC Heart Failure Jun 21, 2018
Lauritsen J, et al. - Researchers analyzed data from studies comparing patients with heart failure (HF) with mid-range ejection fraction (HFmrEF) vs patients with HF with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) and HF with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) with respect to clinical characteristics, all-cause and cardiovascular mortality, and hospitalization. They pooled data from 12 eligible observational studies, including 109,257 patients. Based on the findings, HFmrEF was recognized as a distinct category, occupying a mid-position between HFrEF and HFpEF, and was characterized by the lowest all-cause and cardiovascular mortality.
