Characteristics and long-term outcomes of patients with prior coronary artery bypass grafting undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention for ST- segment elevation myocardial infarction
The American Journal of Cardiology Sep 24, 2020
Gharacholou SM, Del-Carpio Munoz F, Motiei A, et al. - Researchers investigated the features as well as long-term results of patients with coronary artery bypass grafts (CABG) receiving primary percutaneous coronary intervention for ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Participants were identified from 3 sites. Survival and major adverse cardiac events (MACE) were estimated using Kaplan-Meier methods. For comparison, a propensity matched cohort comprising non-CABG STEMI patients was included. At 10 years, the adjusted survival was estimated to be 44% vs 55% in CABG STEMI vs non-CABG STEMI. Findings revealed that there was no significant difference in long term survival between CABG STEMI patients vs matched STEMI patients without prior CABG, however, a significantly higher risk for MACE events was observed in CABG STEMI patients.
