Characteristic dynamics of height and weight in preschool boys with constitutional delay of growth and puberty or hypogonadotropic hypogonadism
Clinical Endocrinology Jun 25, 2019
Reinehr T, et al. - Researchers assessed height, growth, and weight pattern of constitutional delay of growth and puberty (CDGP) and hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (HH) over the first five years of life in order to distinguish the two. In 54 boys with CDGP and 8 boys with HH, they studied height and weight retrospectively over the first five years of life. Unlike HH, height and weight changes in CDGP occurs during the first two years of life. This differential growth and weight pattern could discriminate CDGP from HH. BMI-SDS was significantly higher in boys with HH vs boys with CDGP at pubertal age.
