Changing trends in management of vestibular schwannoma: A National Cancer Database study

Bashjawish B, et al. - Using the National Cancer Database from 2004 to 2014, investigators explored the modifications in management patterns of vestibular schwannoma (VS) as well as the outcome of median income, education level, insurance status, and tumor size on receipt of treatment. They noted that 16,011 received treatment and 6279 received observation among 22,290 identified VS cases. They noted candidates significantly with tumors size < 1 cm were shifting toward increased observation. They also reported the significant role of insurance provider on the receipt of treatment and modality, whereas no impact of income and education was observed.
