Changes in white matter microstructure predict lithium response in adolescents with bipolar disorder

Kafantaris V, et al. - This research aspired to examine whether the response to lithium treatment in pediatric bipolar disorder could be predicted by changes in white matter microstructure in key cortico-limbic tracts involved in emotion regulation. The authors proposed that in pediatric bipolar disorder, response to lithium treatment was correlated with normalization of white matter microstructure in regions associated with emotion processing.
